Rooted in tradition, Reed Mat began its journey in 2002 as a humble bed & breakfast in Chudleigh, Lusaka.
What started as a small family-run business by our founder, Ms. Joyce Banda, (1953 – 2019) has grown into a proudly Zambian hospitality brand with a bold national vision.
For over two decades, Reed Mat has welcomed guests from all over the world seeking affordable, convenient accommodation without compromising on quality or warmth.
Despite the changing economic tides and increasing competition, we’ve remained a trusted choice – especially for international travellers and local guests who appreciate true value and personalized service.
In 2019, Ms. Banda’s children carried the legacy forward by incorporating the business as a limited company, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter focused on expansion and innovation.

Why the Name ReedMat?
In African homes, a reed mat is more than a place to sit or rest – it’s a symbol of welcome, togetherness, and functionality. It’s where stories are shared, meals enjoyed, and guests received. Dabwiso is a passionate entrepreneur with a knack for marketing and business. With 6 years in Hospitality and marketing business. He runs the day-to-day affairs of Reed Mat, handling customer enquiries and the operations of
the business.

Andrew Campbell
Director
Andrew brings 25 years of experience in the
technology space in the UK and US as a software development manager. He offers strategic and advisory guidance to the board. Andrew is a martial artist and dancer in his spare time.
